As an ISCJ Mosque wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of documenting many meaningful Muslim weddings throughout New Jersey, but Dawlat and Motaz’s nikkah at ISCJ Mosque in South Brunswick was especially unforgettable.

There are weddings that are beautiful because of the décor, and then there are weddings that stay with you because of the people, the emotions, and the memories they awaken. Dawlat and Motaz’s nikkah at ISCJ Mosque in South Brunswick Township, New Jersey was one of those unforgettable celebrations.

From the moment I walked through the doors of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ), I felt something familiar. This wasn’t just another mosque where I was photographing a wedding—it was a place that has held a special place in my heart for more than two decades.

The ceremony was made even more meaningful because it was officiated by Imam Chebli, who also happens to be the bride’s uncle. Even more incredible is the fact that Imam Chebli performed my own nikkah over 20 years ago, making this wedding feel deeply personal. Returning to photograph another couple beginning their journey together in the very same community was an honor that is difficult to put into words.

A Meaningful Nikkah Ceremony at ISCJ Mosque

The Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ) provides an incredible setting for a Muslim wedding ceremony. Located in South Brunswick Township, New Jersey, the mosque combines stunning Islamic architecture with a warm, welcoming community that makes every couple and every guest feel at home.

The prayer hall is absolutely breathtaking. Beautiful blue tile work, elegant Arabic calligraphy, grand chandeliers, and natural light streaming through the windows create an atmosphere that is both peaceful and majestic. It’s the perfect backdrop for a nikkah, where the focus remains on faith, family, and the sacred commitment of marriage.

As guests gathered, there was an overwhelming sense of anticipation. Friends and family filled the prayer hall, sharing smiles and quiet conversations while waiting for the ceremony to begin.

When Family Makes the Ceremony Even More Special

One of the most touching aspects of Dawlat and Motaz’s wedding was having Imam Chebli officiate the nikkah.

Watching an uncle guide his niece through one of the most important moments of her life added another layer of emotion to the ceremony. His words carried not only religious wisdom but also genuine love and care for the couple.

For me personally, this moment brought back countless memories. Knowing that the same Imam who united my wife and me in marriage years ago was now blessing another young couple made this wedding especially meaningful. It reminded me why I love photographing Muslim weddings—not simply because of the beautiful traditions, but because they celebrate generations of family, faith, and community coming together.

A Ceremony Filled with Love and Tradition

Every nikkah tells a story, and Dawlat and Motaz’s story unfolded beautifully. As an ISCJ Mosque wedding photographer, I love documenting each and every nikkah, they are all special in their own way.

The ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments as the marriage contract was reviewed and signed. Family members gathered close, witnessing the beginning of a new chapter while offering prayers and support.

One of my favorite moments was watching Dawlat carefully sign the marriage documents while surrounded by the people who love her most. The quiet emotion on everyone’s faces reflected just how significant this moment truly was.

Soon afterward came the joyful congratulations, warm embraces, and countless smiles that naturally follow a completed nikkah ceremony.

These are the moments I always look for as a wedding photographer—the genuine expressions that can’t be posed or recreated.

ISCJ Mosque Wedding Photography Portraits

As an ISCJ Mosque wedding photographer, one of my favorite parts of the day is creating portraits throughout the mosque.  After the ceremony, we spent time creating portraits around the mosque.

Dawlat looked absolutely radiant in her elegant white gown and beautifully wrapped hijab. Her bouquet of vibrant sunflowers and deep red roses added a wonderful pop of color that complemented the blue tile work throughout the mosque.

Motaz looked equally sharp in his classic black suit, creating a timeless look that allowed their personalities and connection to shine.

The architecture of ISCJ Mosque offers so many opportunities for stunning wedding portraits. Whether standing beneath the intricate mihrab, walking outside the mosque together, or simply sharing quiet moments inside the prayer hall, every location highlighted the beauty of their relationship.

One of my favorite portraits was captured inside the expansive prayer hall. The symmetry of the room, combined with the elegant Arabic calligraphy overhead, perfectly framed the couple while emphasizing the sacred setting where they exchanged their vows.

The smiles exchanged between family members.

The laughter shared among guests.

The quiet expression on Dawlat’s face before signing the marriage contract.

Even the enthusiastic thumbs-up from one of the younger guests perfectly captured the excitement everyone felt throughout the day.
