As a New Jersey wedding photographer, Crystal Plaza continues to be one of my favorite venues to photograph, especially for South Asian and Muslim weddings.

Getting Ready at The Crystal Plaza

The day began with both sides getting ready in separate areas of the Crystal Plaza. My second shooter spent the morning with Jalal and his groomsmen in the venue’s famous Vault. The mood was relaxed and effortlessly cool—cigars, pool games, and candid moments that made for some incredibly cinematic images.

At the same time, I was with Alia in the bridal suite capturing her getting ready. I photographed her details including shoes, invitations, rings, and accessories, followed by close-ups of her necklace, bangles, and earrings. One of the standout moments was the classic mirror portrait as she adjusted her earrings—quiet, graceful, and timeless.

While I focused on the bride, my second shooter captured Jalal’s groom details, including his shoes, turban, and the intricate buttons on his sherwani. These details helped complete the visual story of the day.

Solo Portraits & First Look Indoors

Once both were dressed, we captured solo portraits—Alia bathed in soft window light and Jalal continuing his portraits in the Vault for a bold, dramatic look.

Heavy rain forced us to pivot our original plans, but Crystal Plaza’s interior gave us the perfect solution. We found a beautiful room with large windows overlooking the gardens, making it an ideal spot for their first look. The top of the grand staircase also provided excellent lighting and minimal foot traffic for portraits.

Nikkah Ceremony with Garden Views

The Nikkah ceremony took place in one of Crystal Plaza’s open ballrooms. Alia and Jalal stood beneath a pink and white floral backdrop that framed them perfectly. Behind the stage, the balcony opened to views of the venue’s gardens, adding depth and elegance to the ceremony.

Reception Details & Sparkler Portraits

After the Nikkah, we captured reception details before guests entered the ballroom. The grand stage setup by Partyland Sajawat transformed the space with luxurious décor and dramatic lighting.

With the room still empty, we took advantage of the moment to photograph the bride and groom on the stage. One of the most striking images of the day was created when sparkler fountains went off behind them, adding energy and drama to the portraits.

Entrances, First Dance & Celebration

The evening continued with Jalal’s energetic entrance, followed by dancing with his groomsmen. Alia’s entrance was elegant and commanding, leading into their first dance. The celebration quickly turned into a full party, with the dance floor packed thanks to a live performance by the Raga Boyz Band.

An Epic Rainy Night Finale

Before the Ruksathi, we stepped outside one last time into the rain. Under an umbrella in the Crystal Plaza garden, Alia and Jalal shared a quiet moment together. With a single backlight illuminating the falling rain, the final image became one of the most cinematic portraits of the night—and a perfect ending to their wedding day.
